Moving In Checklist

Prior to your move in, please provide our office with the following

  • Email + phone number so we may connect with you.

  • Completed Pre-Authorized Payment form for future rent payments.

  • Proof of tenant’s insurance.

    • It’s imperative that tenants remain protected. Be aware that tenants are not protected under their landlord’s policy.

    • A few popular insurance providers in Toronto are SquareOne, Sonnet, RBC, TD, The Cooperators, etc.

  • Confirmation of utilities account(s) set-up.

    • Most often, tenants are responsible for utilities during the duration of their tenancy. Setup your account and pay directly with the provider.

Once this information is received, we will schedule your key exchange and unit inspection.

Moving Out Checklist

It’s unfortunate to hear about your departure. However, we understand that change is inevitable. The following information should ensure you don’t leave anything unchecked.

Sufficient Notice

In Ontario, the tenant must provide at least 60 days written notice. Please complete and sign the N9 ‘Tenant’s Notice to End the Tenancy’ form.

Property Condition

Your rental agreement requires you leave your residence in clean and undamaged condition. It is expected that you:

  • Remove any furniture and contents from the unit, as well as the storage locker (if applicable).

  • Repair any holes in the wall. Avoid any unnecessary issues with the return of the unit.

  • Replace any burned out light bulbs.

  • Clean the kitchen such as appliances, cabinets (inside and outside), and countertops.

  • Remove all food pantry and the refrigerator. Wash out compartments.

  • Clean washrooms - showers, tubs, fixtures, tiles, mirrors, toilets.

  • Clean floors and steam clean carpeting.

  • Empty the lint trap, both inside and above the laundry machine.

  • Upon leaving, please secure the unit by locking all windows and doors.

Utilities + Building office

Please close your account with the utilities provider(s), corresponding to the last day of your lease agreement. This will avoid any future billing complications.

Inform the building’s office of our departure to remove yourself from their registry.
