Navigating Buildium: How to Download Income Statements and View Other Important Documents

If you’re a rental property owner, you know how important it is to keep track of leases, insurance policies, and finances. Thankfully, Buildium is here to make your life easier! As a property management software, Buildium allows you to manage your rental property from anywhere in the world with just a few clicks. Here, we’ll walk you through how to download financial reports and access the important documents pertaining to your property.  

First things first, you’ll need to login to your Buildium account. You should’ve received an email containing your login information shortly after signing up with Clavis. Then, select “Client Login” then “Landlords” from the upper navigation bar of our website to sign in.

Once you’re in, you’ll find a dashboard containing a list of your properties. Click on the property you want to view, and you’ll be able to view recent income and transactions.

Income statements

Tax season is stressful! Luckily though, you can find your annual income statements via Buildium. To download an income statement, simply click on the “Reports” tab from the left-hand navigation bar. From there, you’ll see a list of various reports you can run. You’ll want to select “Income Statement.”

First, you’ll have the option to download a collective income statement for all properties or you can select a specific property. Then, select the date range “Last Year.” If you’d like a month to month breakdown, select “Month” under Interval. Lastly, change the accounting basis to “Accrual.” It’s as easy as that! Now, you can download your income statement in PDF or Excel format (.csv, .xlsx).  

Accessing documents

To view important documents, such as leases, repair invoices, or tenant insurance policies, select “Documents” from the left-hand navigation bar. A list of documents for all properties should appear. You can filter the documents by category, like “Leases” or “Invoices” to make it easier to find what you’re looking for. Once you find it, you can click on it to view it or download it as a PDF.
