Mistakes Tenants Make During Move Out

We get it. There is a lot happening near the end of your tenancy and some things slip through the cracks. Over the years, we've found these are the most common tenant mistakes during those final days.

1) Forget to provide a forwarding address.

Sure, you don't need those weekly flyers in the mail. But if important mail gets delivered to your old address, we're confident you'll need it. We suggest you provide your landlord or the building's management office your forwarding address. Another option is Canada Post offers a mail forwarding service.

2) Forget to clean.

Doing a full clean will ensure there are no issues regarding the state of the unit with you and the landlord during your final inspection. Not to mention, if you need a letter of recommendation from your landlord, leaving the property in the same condition as you received will surely do the trick.

3) Forget to close your utilities accounts.

One of the most common mistakes we see is tenants forgetting to close or notify their utilities provider of their move. You definitely don't want to be paying for electricity when you're not living there anymore. Save yourself the headache and be sure to close your account when your lease ends.
